NATIONALLY RECOGNISED FIRE SAFETY TRAINING 

The accredited training and assessment is delivered on behalf of Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO 90909, and in conjunction with FireSafe Services NSW.

 

Competency based training methods will be assessed through a combination of practical activities, written theoretical questions, observation reports and/or workplace simulation activities.

A Statement of Attainment will be issued to successful participants.

CONFINED SMALL EMERGENCIES IN A FACILITY
(EXTINGUISHER TRAINING)

Small workplace emergencies may include such incidents as a small fire that can be controlled using a nearby fire extinguisher.

The course is designed to provide participants with the required knowledge and skills to:

  • prepare for emergency situations

  • identify and assess the emergency

  • safely contain small workplace emergencies where possible

  • use initial response equipment on small un-established workplace fires and

  • report those workplace emergencies.

The course will include participants demonstrating extinguisher use in a simulated workplace emergency situation and demonstration of a fire blanket.

Assessment will confirm the ability to correctly identify the type of emergency that has occurred; to identify and take action to avoid or control any associated hazards; to use initial response equipment and techniques to safely and effectively control or contain the emergency.

​ OPERATE AS PART OF AN EMERGENCY CONTROL ORGANISATION
(WARDEN)

This course covers the competencies required by a person at a higher level in the emergency control organisation.

People who undertake this course will be working within the command, control and coordinate structure of the emergency control organisation. They are employees who have been delegated responsibility in the workplace as part of an emergency control organisation to participate in the preparation of workplace emergency procedures; alert and report potential workplace emergencies; evaluate the need to evacuate a work area; prepare for an evacuation; and assist people who may require assistance in accordance with workplace emergency procedures.

This course provides participants with the knowledge and skill to effectively fulfil their duties as fire wardens in the event of an emergency by demonstrating competencies as follows:

  • Respond to emergency reports, signals and warnings

  • Initiate and control initial emergency response

  • Anticipate the further development of emergencies

  • Assist with post initial response

 

Assessment will cover the ability to respond to emergency reports, signals and warnings appropriately; to supply clear directions under emergency conditions; to make decisions appropriate to the situation; to keep others appropriately informed; to respond according to the workplace emergency procedures; and to take on a leadership role consistent with the emergency control organisation.

LEAD AN EMERGENCY CONTROL ORGANISATION
(CHIEF WARDEN)

This course covers the competency required by Chief Fire Wardens to make decisions about people’s safety during a workplace emergency and to give instructions on the priority order for responding to the emergency incident area.

This course provides participants with the knowledge and skill to effectively fulfil their duties as a chief warden in the event of an emergency by demonstrating competencies as follows:

 

  • Prepare for workplace emergencies

  • Apply command, control and coordinate aspects of workplace emergency procedures

  • Control the response to emergency reports, signals and warnings

  • Coordinate reports and results of initial emergency response

  • Conclude incident

 

Assessment will cover the ability to respond to emergency reports, signals and warnings properly; to give clear directions under emergency conditions; to make decisions appropriate to the situation; to keep others appropriately informed; to respond in accordance with the workplace emergency procedures; to take on a leadership role consistent with the emergency control organisation; and to operate in accordance with the command, control and coordinate framework of the emergency control organisation structures.
